τελικά πήρα πανί και κοιτάω ένα Red Line. Όμως με τα άλμπουρα δεν έχω βγάλει άκρη.
Σύμφωνα με το http://www.unifiber.net/2012/mast-selector κάθε χρόνο αλλάζουν και λίγο τα bend curve.

Αυτό που ήθελα να σε ρωτήσω είναι ότι η gaastra στο site γράφει για το Vapor technora 11m 2010, luff 566. Εμένα το πανί μου γράφει luff 556. Μάλλον έχουν κάνει λάθος σε αυτό που γράφουν στο πανί. Εσένα το πανί τι γράφει και πόσο το τριμάρεις?]]>

Dear all,

As President of the Brazilian Windsurfing Association and organizer of numerous windsurfing world championships and world circuit stopover in Brazil, I lament and I sympathize with all the leaders, directors, managers and athletes that make our sport.
Without wanting to disparage kitesurf, I agree with all the comments that have been written here so far and also think that ISAF has committed a big mistake.

Even though I find this is a very worrisome situation, I think this is an important time for us to rethink the manner in which windsurfing is being administrated at the moment. We leaders, have to elaborate a development plan for windsurfing and regain back the Olympic status. Loose ideas tend to get taken by the winds. We must have a consensus of how windsurfing will work, which classes, which will be Olympic, etc., a strategic plan with a clear and easy competition format to be presented for the media, aiming to facilitate its understanding and fortify the image of the sport and its athletes.

For this, it’s necessary to stipulate deadlines for suggestions and discussions, to compile the decisions, present to the industry for their support and set dates for the launching of new directives, directions and guidelines for windsurfing in all continents. The strength of the sport will become evident, if our decisions are unified and defended by all. It will most probably be even stronger, if we manage to elect only one representative body for the sport of windsurfing to delegate with ISAF and COI.

We must learn with kitesurf, without decimating their achievement, which made a great work backstage, sensitizing and gaining important political support in just 3 years of existence of the IKA. This entity emerged when kitesurf was headed and divided by two parallel world circuits – PKRA and KPWT, apart from a third one that was being created for the Kitewave. IKA overtook all of them, received the ISAF stamp, defined how the world circuit would be and now receives the Olympic status. Achievements like these are explained, either by having a good godfather at ISAF or COI, or being very objective and efficient.

Kitesurf will most probably rapidly implement ideas that windsurfing has been trying for years, such as unlimiting equipment for other manufactures to produce and take the Olympic races to large audience (just as beach-volley) and far away from marinas. This surely will be shown in Rio de Janeiro and will be a great success

For windsurfing we must reflect, absorb and learn from this. At this adverse moment we must find a new path.

The amount of equipment spread out on the beach was astronomical. We just suffered a very painful and expensive death - and it took a lot of windsurfing enthusiasts with it.


Its time to have a good look at our past, and re-invent simplicity. Biased as I am of course, but I still dare to say we have done just that with the Kona concept. Arguably not a high performance concept compared to a (limited) carbon Formula board, but I definitely believe we need both. This said, it has to be added that the Kona fleet is extremely tactical and competitive due to our class rules. It must be windsurfing history to see 4 different weight groups among the top five (over all) finishers at the Worlds. Additionally we are open for a white board solution.

La verdad es que hasta estos días no habia recibido ningun correo o información oficial sobre la posibilidad de la exclusión de la RS:X de las olimpiadas (únicamente rumores). Deberíamos habernos organizado, mobilizado y forzado a la ISAF antes de que sucediera la situación actual. Puede que ahora ya sea demasiado tarde para una marcha atrás...

Creo que excluir el windsurf de las olimpiadas es un error, ya para mi entender la vela ligera está sobradamente representada con la cantidad de clases presentes. Si incluir el kitesurf significaba suprimir otra clase, porque tiene que ser el windsurf y no cualquier otra?

El deporte, desde mi punto de vista, necesita obligatoriamente la espectacularidad y es posible que la ISAF busque este atractivo en la vela. La RS:X puede que la faltara este aspecto, habria sido posible buscar otros sistemas de competición? ¿recorrido? ¿imagen?,... Siempre ha sido díficil defender nuestro deporte ante los que gestionan la vela y siempre les será dificil que nos vean con buenos ojos, somos "los moisés" de la vela (navegamos por encima del agua y de pie...).

Creo que esto nos tiene que enseñar a que tenemos que estar todos unidos y organizados. Cada país tiene que tener presencia en sus federaciones nacionales correspondientes y nuestra representación en la ISAF tiene que ser mucho mayor. Es muy difícil explicar como funciona el mundo del windsurf con tantas organizaciones que trabajan de forma diferente y en algunos casos con puntos de vista tant diferentes.

Tenemos que sumar y no restar (como sucede actualmente).

exactly the reason the IWA was formed in 2000, and a move concurrent with the proposal to make FW the olympic class with support of classes, windsurfing associations , PWA, industry , media . etc
That bid failed, as did complete unity - now this disaster for windsurfing in 2016 is another opportunity to pull together .
So canvas your PWA contacts - get them to take the seat waiting for them at the IWA table.
Contact your RSX sailors and coaches etc - to make the RSX management respect the decisions of their members at the AGM .

This would be a good start for 2020.

I was already argueing many times that we need:
1. One strong world wide windsurfing organisation, not several small organisations.
For media, for sponsors, for people who are not windsurfers this mess with PWA, IWA, IFCA, olimpic classes associations, speed, freestyle associations is something what they don’t understand. Result – no sponsors, no media in windsurfing on a level that we need to keep our sport strong. I organise many times Worlds, World Tours, Europeans and hundres of national regattas starting in 1974 up to now and I know exactly what I say.
2. Less classes, less world champions, such classes like RSX should never be developed (is this class developed by windsurfers or by people who hate windsurfing?)
3. Leaders of all windsurfing organisations and also all windsurfing sportmen should understand that and start the changes.
Now of course we should do our best to change that decision but if we thing about windsurfing future, above points are a key to windsurfing succes.

Of course is windsurfing an olympic discipline.
The problem is not that there are to many disciplines. The problem is that the RS-x class has no history on it’s own. For instance when baseball was kicked out of the olympics the sport still continued to exist. I think that we need to build at least one strong (olympic) class that can survive even without an olympic regcognition. Perhaps Formula one design could be that class.


It is also very strange to see that kite surfing is admitted in 2016. Normally a new sport is at the most a demonstrationsport to prove it’s potential. It wasn’t a demonstrationsport on previous Olympic Games. So that makes the decision even stranger. Besides that the kite federation is not even a member of the ISAF as far as I know.

- Demonstration sports have been cancelled by the IOC after the Athens games so stop using this word….IOC is black/white since then: you are in or out…..
- IKA has been a ISAF class since november 2008

At what point is the support of national associations necessary?
What can we contribute to get the necessary influence?

boards:1 formula board 1 slalom board.
Sails: 1 formula sail 3 slalom sails
Winds for racing:6 to 15 knots formula above 15 knots slalom
SiZes: formula board as usual, slalom around 100 lltre with a huge range.sails formula around 11, slalom 8 ,7,5.5
Coursses: different interesting courses closer to the beach .


Manufactures will easyly be producing equipment for this class

The IWA was formed for exactly that purpose - unification and structure ; all supporting everyone ; no "preferential elite class; olympic windsurfing for the benefit of all.

First Rory ( IMCO) and PWA sat around the table and then walked away - unable to share decisions and responsibilities.
We tried to get everyone on board.
Eventually IMCO joined, even PWA Chairman Phil Mcgain sat on the IWA Executive Committee.
Unable to control the IWA to their exact requirement they now stay outside.
Rory eventually asked to join IWA - his committee and AGM approved - then Rory changed his mind .

For the sake of unity - tell the RSX committee to honour the decision of the members at the AGM.
No one man should have such control - time for a change otherwise the future is bleak.

classes cannot grow very fast , particularly in current economic climate, and understanding current ISAF Regs etc blah blah.
my recommendation would be to introduce events (not championships) using this format ; it has been tried before , and could be tried again .
But do not weaken the sport further - by further dilution , and by alienating other windsurfers (classes -if you want ) that like something different.

What is required at this time is some unity - followed by careful planning for the future .
That cannot happen in a forum debate or by exchange of emails .
